Hey little ones

As promised, some online revision before the test tomorrow. Sorry i wasn't able to put this up earlier. Do me a favour, spread the word around and try to get your classmates to come on to read this by today. Thanks and all the best for the test!

Common test 2 - Situational Writing (Informal Letter)
Duration - 45 minutes

You were told prior to the test that the letter will be based on literature text Red Sky in the Morning, meaning you would have to use some facts in the story to write your letter.

Planning - 1) Recall what PATF means (check EL file for past examples), 2) Make sure all points given in the question are addressed (remember that good planning rewards you one bonus point)

Writing - 1) Do not waste marks on format (Address, Date, Salutation, Closing), Structure of letter (Greetings, purpose, points, closing)

The key is to really assume that you are writing to a person and not just writing to pass a test. Show the marker that you understand the requirements by not just inserting facts but also personal comments and thoughts. Remember to include appropriate greetings and closing thoughts. Again, refer to past examples.

Checking - Not the most important of all but definitely helps you gain many valuable points. Check for good paragraphing, good tenses, accurate spelling and punctuation.

A lot to digest here. Take your time. And most importantly, during the test, relax and do not rush into writing. Good planning makes better writing.

Excited
